1. Moderna: A Few Thousand Instead of 100K Employees with Gen AI

Moderna is leveraging Gen AI the right way according to a new article by OpenAI.

Old way: Hire 100,000 people

New way: Give a few thousand people Gen AI tools and make them perform like 100,000 people

Their strategic move?

Giving every function (including legal) AI tools and allowing employees to create their own GPTs (they've created 750 GPTs across the company so far; this is huge if you know how powerful it could be)

Here’s a short video showcasing their incredible results

2. Microsoft’s Phi-3 & Small Language Models

Microsoft has developed the Phi-3 family of small language models (SLMs), which are designed to be more compact and efficient (compared to large language models or LLMs) while still delivering high performance.

These models, including Phi-3-mini, are smaller in size and require less data for training, making them suitable for organizations with limited resources.

Here’s a graphic showing illustrating how the quality of new Phi-3 models compares to other models of similar size

What does this mean for leaders?

Business leaders can now have options to choose the most appropriate model size for their needs, balancing cost, performance, and operational simplicity.

The smaller models also allow businesses to deploy AI solutions in environments with limited connectivity or computing power, such as rural areas or on mobile devices, opening up more options for AI deployments.

3. Co-founder of LinkedIn creates AI version of himself

Reid Hoffman, the co-founder of LinkedIn, just created a deepfake AI version of himself (called REID AI).

Check out the video below to see a conversation between the real and deepfake versions of Reid.

4. One Prompt You Can Use at Work Today

Here’s a practical ChatGPT Prompt you can use at work:

I'd like to [action] to [benefit]. What might be the objections and concerns of the [role] about the [action]?

For example,

I'd like to change the on-call schedule of our team to better meet the needs of our customers. What might be the objections and concerns of the engineers about the schedule change?

If you would like to see more of those prompts, check out my free book called: ChatGPT for Better Business Communication.
