1. ChatGPT is now Part of Your Apple Device

OpenAI just announced that ChatGPT is now integrated into all Apple devices, including iPhones.

This means you can now use Siri with ChatGPT, leverage some impressive visual intelligence capabilities, and experience other AI features.

You’ll need to update to the latest OS versions to use this (e.g., iOS 18.2 on your iPhone)

More details in this Twitter/ X thread.

2. When NOT to Use AI

Ethan Mollick recently published a great article called 15 Times to use AI, and 5 Not to.

The article is worth a read, but there’s one takeaway that I wholeheartedly agree with about when not to use AI:

“When the effort is the point”

In other words, avoid using AI when you need to learn from executing the process and not just from creating the final product.

Mollick explains:

In many areas, people need to struggle with a topic to succeed - writers rewrite the same page, academics revisit a theory many times. By shortcutting that struggle, no matter how frustrating, you may lose the ability to reach the vital “aha” moment.

3. Quick Updates about the AI Landscape

  • Alphabet announces Willow: Google’s parent company released Willow, a new quantum chip that can perform “a computation in under five minutes that would take a supercomputer 10 septillion years.”

  • ChatGPT Canvas now available to Everyone: This feature was released a few months ago but only for paid users. Now, everyone can use it (and it’s a great feature).

  • OpenAI Releases Sora: You can now generate AI videos from text, as well as remix, or blend videos you already have.

4. One Prompt You Can Use at Work Today

Here’s a practical ChatGPT Prompt you can use at work:

Create an email that [goal]. Give them a deadline and mention [time burden].

For example,

Create an email that asks people to fill out the survey and explain how it would help them. Give them a deadline and mention how much time filling out the survey would take.
