1. How to Write Faster Business Reports (Using ChatGPT 4o with Canvas)
OpenAI recently introduced Canvas, a new way of working with ChatGPT.
The way it works is that Canvas opens a separate window for you, which allows you to collaborate directly with ChatGPT on your documents.
This will help you write faster business reports because instead of having to copy & paste different text sections and ask ChatGPT one prompt at a time, you can edit everything inside of the separate window.
You’ll need a paid subscription to use Canvas (such as ChatGPT Plus), and although it’s still in beta, it’s pretty impressive.
Here’s a short demo from OpenAI that shows you how Canvas works.
Canvas opens in a separate window, allowing you and ChatGPT to work on ideas side by side.
In canvas, ChatGPT can suggest edits, adjust length, change reading levels, and offer inline feedback. You can also write and edit directly in canvas.

2. No One Is Seeing AI Gains at the Org Level
Ethan Mollick published a great post recently called AI in organizations: Some tactics where he observes that leaders and managers at companies “see little AI use and few productivity gains outside of narrow permitted use cases.”
This is despite the fact that we have clear evidence that AI does increase productivity at the individual level.
Here are a few quotes & takeaways from Mollick that I found interesting:
“AI use that boosts individual performance does not always translate to boosting organizational performance for a variety of reasons.”
“To get organizational gains requires R&D into AI use and you are largely going to have to do the R&D yourself.”
“So how do you do R&D on ways of using AI? You turn to the Crowd or the Lab. Probably both.”
Tactics for the Crowd: Get help from your secret cyborgs (those employees using AI at work but aren’t telling anyone about it) by reducing fear, aligning your reward systems, and modeling positive use.
Tactics for the Lab: Build AI benchmarks for your org, as well as prompts and tools that work.
