1. The Top 50 Gen AI Web Products

The latest "Top 50 Gen AI Web Products" list by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) was just published. This is a more recent version of the list they published six months ago.

Here’s the list of the top 50 by unique monthly visits.

What does this mean for leaders?

There are a couple of interesting takeaways from this list:

1) First, over 40 percent of the companies that made this list are brand new (when compared to the list from 6 months ago). This means that the competitive landscape is moving at an insanely fast pace, and the expectation is that we’ll see more new players make the top 50 going forward.

2) Second, ChatGPT tops the list, followed by Google’s Gemini (previously known as Bard). However, ChatGPT gets around 5 times the number of monthly website visits (around 2 billion visits) compared to Gemini. So this means that ChatGPT is still the top contender by far.

2. What AI Should You Use?

Ethan Mollick recently published a great article in his One Useful Thing newsletter about which AI should you use.

The article talks about the fact that there are now three “GPT-4 class AI models” (i.e., AI models that are currently the best and are similar in power & quality to OpenAI’s latest ChatGPT model). Those include GPT-4, Claude 3 Opus, and Gemini Advanced.

He goes into great detail explaining the similarities and differences among those models, as well as some of the pros & cons, but the takeaway is that for now, using any GPT-4 class AI model should suffice and you can’t go wrong with any of them.

However, my perspective is that sticking with GPT-4 (specifically a paid version of ChatGPT) is probably the best idea because of the custom GPT features, which can help you tailor ChatGPT to your business’s specific needs.
